FMX Showdown At Area 51

Date Posted:1 December 2024

Well if ya wanna get a proper poke in the eye by some of the best dirt bike and mini maniacs around, then lock in next years AREA 51 event, because what we witnessed a couple of months ago at Jake Masters property just outside of Rocksberg QLD was one for the books. Rolling into the place and spot locking our beaks onto the course we knew straight away that these boys meant business with a standard FMX course set up amongst various jump lines all feeding into and out of each other, ranging from 75ft to 180ft blind take off dirt booters, with the icing on the cake being a full blown watered Mini SX track smacked in the guts of the property surrounded by rustic busth bars. Now this joint had good times stamped all over it!!! If your going to build some serious stuff you need the high calibre crew to rock up and squeeze the trigger on the joint and that they did………. on and off the bikes.

There’s something down under that breeds absolute weapons on dirt bikes, those that ooze style when it comes to show casing their skills on big jumps. Consisting of a mighty fine mix of SX, MX and FMX riders, with the likes of Mason Rowe, Andy Van Zelm, John Prutti, Jake Bowen, Jake Smith, Zac Cuthbert, Ry Hazel, Brodie Sneeden, Locky Lattima, Brandon Greenwood, Elijah Wiese and of course the Mastermind of it all Jake Masters. The format for the day was a relaxed atmosphere just go out have a jam and most of all just have fun with it…. and that they did. Mason Rowe led the charge in the style game closely followed by Prutti, Bowen, Wiese and Van Zelm but if it came down to those that ripped em out of the misses hand bag n sacked up to fly the flag it was Jake Smith who flawlessly flipped everything in sight and tore the joint to bits thus taking out the overall best performance on course.

And it was refreshing to see the likes of FMX up and comers Ry Hazel, Zac Cuthbert, Brandon Greenwood and Brodie Sneeden all step out of their comfort zone and conquer the big dirt hits, and it didn’t take them long to throw down their big bag of tricks. Looks like the future of the FMX in OZ is in good hands, with Zac Cuthbert tearing the joint to bits, throwing down corked out flips and with every other trick he had with pinpoint execution. Solid ride that’s for sure. But Mason Rowe was on another level with jaw dropping stalled out late look back turn ups and turn downs over everything the place had on offer, and he was crowned the best style and whip master for the day. Well, deserved.

The slick style of Prutti was always worth a mention and the Original FMX dirt bike destroyer of Jake ‘Bones’ Bowen, these two are always a pleasure to watch’s show casing their skills off some big dirt hits and it’s this that makes us all sit back for a reality check and say to ourselves ‘how good are dirt bike’s!!” With that all done and dusted we moved into the Mini Mayhem with some all-out battles amongst the rat bags , Dj’s banging out the beats n the bar in full swing the night got rowdy with a few bent spokes amongst the crew. All in all it was an absolute cracker of an event and props to all involved and for those who had to put up with me flapping my trap all day and night……. will we be there next year???? Too right we will be!!!! Lock in AREA 51 2025!!!!

Dirt Bike Life, HOO ROO!! BUSHY
